フレンズ TBSドラマ 2002

I recently saw a Korean-Japanese TV Drama from 2002, called FRIENDS, starring Fukada Kyoko (Dolls) and Won Bin (Brotherhood). It was a VCD with only Cantonese subtitles, so could only understand the Japanese side of the story, which was bad at times, like when Fukada Kyoko's character learnt Korean and they communicated in ... KOREAN ... >_< But, none-the-less, I really enjoyed this movie, and could understand it even though NO ENGLISH! :)

The storyline is basically about a Japanese girl (Fukada) who goes on holiday to Hong Kong and gets her bag snatched. She runs after the thief, who was wearing a NYC cap. She loses sight of him, but then she thinks she spots him again and accuses him. However, this person is not the thief, but Won Bin, who just happens to be in Hong Kong on holiday himself, but wearing a NYC cap. They hunt the thief together even though they dont understand what the other is saying. Ji-hoon, (Won Bin) a movie-maker-wannabe, shoots a short film with Tomoko (Fukada) as the star, however all she has to do for this film is run. They develop a cute friendship, and contniue their relationship through email, when they both return to their home-countries. However, when Ji-hoon comes to Japan to visit Tomoko some one gets in the way. He returns to Korea, upset and does his 2 year army training. Tomoko tries in vain to relight their relationship. But, with her newly found confidence, she has a career change, which, inevitably, falls right back in the path of Ji-hoon, but, is it 2nd time lucky?

Speak Korean? Speak Japanese? Speak Cantonese? Buy it.

Hi Nick, sorry for my late reply, been busy searching for jobs.... and failing! :(

I originally studied Japanese at City University in London, my a man named Takayuki Ogura. He was a great teacher and Id recommend the classes to anyone cos of the accessibility, cost and learning without much effort! >_<

I did go to SOAS in London once, for the JLPT 3 preparation exam classes, but I didnt think much of it. I dont know why, maybe I just expected more after paying twice as much as the City Uni prices and going to the main Japanese teaching place in London...!

i know my Japanese isnt perfect and I may have picked up some bad habits from my stay in Japan (nobody speaks proper Japanese in Japan - nobody speaks proper English in England!)....

You thinking of learning Nick?
