"Chance! What chance?! One hates television and such."

"Let's just forget about the television part for now", said Hiroko, trying her best to choose her words so as to not influence Yasubei.

"Yasubei, the fact is that whether you like it or not, you've become so great at making deserts. I think it's amazing considering you hadn't even seen or heard of a cake until a few months ago. You should be proud!"

"Don't be ridiculous!"

Picking up on a sense of joy in Yasubei's reply, Hiroko pushed on.

"No, it's true! What you've achieved is amazing Yasubei. That's why I think it would be good for you to test your skills to judge how good you really are. Just imagine if you were to beat someone who's been making cakes since they were little?! Wouldn't that prove your ability?!"

"That could happen, but..."

"That would be a victory for Edo over Tokyo. You've got to do it for Edo!"

Yasubei sighed and crossed his arms. Hiroko could see that her tactics were causing Yasubei to waver.

"If one puts it like that then it is hard to not participate."

Tomoya cheered with delight and Hiroko clapped her hands as Yasubei grandly announced his participation.

Just a quick translation whilst I prepare for my translating test!
