7.1 and no (reported) casualties :)

I've been watching an anime series called 'Tokyo Magnitude 8.0' recently. The story follows a sister and brother who are out together in Odaiba during the first days of their school summer holidays, when an 8.0 (Richter Scale? Shindo Scale?) earthquake strikes Tokyo. Tokyo is left devastated by the initial earthquake as well as the numerous strong aftershocks. The story follows the two children as they try to get back home.

Today, a 7.1 (Richter scale) earthquake struck off the coast of Tokyo. Although no reports of damage or casualties, maybe the anime is a little too close to home. To put this earthquake in perspective, the earthquake that killed over 6,000 people in Kobe in 1995 was 7.2 on the Richter Scale.

I like the anime, but it just scares me mindless that it could very potentially happen. And all my friends (and maybe me..?) could be there at the time. ...But... I guess... you cant stop your life for fear. Or else you might never cross the road for fear of being hit by a bus....

Gee my posts are getting so depressing these days... >_<

In another piece of news, seems Kichijoji is the most popular area to live in Tokyo, with Ikebukuro in 2nd place. Cant really see why Nakano is in 3rd place though... Maybe I'm missing something??

Yeah the shaking was longer than usual and for the first time I figured I should take cover! Although I just kinda stood there listening, as if there was gonna be a signal as to when to jump under the table lol. Was it announce on british news?

Hisashiburi!!! Hope everything is well on your end. 7.2 in Kobe? Wow then I guess they built Tokyo a lot stronger eh? But then again it was 300 meters from tokyo the quake.

Say, where are you getting the anime? Would love to watch it as well :)

I can't believe Ikebukuro is No.2...notorious city.

I understand Nakano is popular. cozy streets, geek shops....many stuff I like.

No, Sundays one wasnt on the news but it looks like the second earthquake on Monday (which was smaller) made it on the BBC website... >_< Makes no sense...
Nakano... nothing wrong with it, i just wouldn't want to live there. No reason why... I guess its nice as its easily accessible but... hmm...

Yes, i think thats why Tokyo was lucky, the earthquake was quite far away. i guess the Kobe earthquake hit very near. I watch the anime on Youtube, although i think its on TV now in Japan...if you can stay up til around 1am...? Its good, try it :)

Koji
I guess Ikebukuro is pretty notorious.. haha.. :) I still havent been to Koenji (9th on the list) :(
