バイバイ、ウサギさん?

Language school giant Nova filed for bankruptcy on Friday with the Osaka District Court and said it would temporarily close all its schools nationwide. They have continued to suspend wages for many of its instructors and staff, apparently leaving some instructors facing eviction from their NOVA-run housing.

"The sudden move, which came just as labor authorities were about to question its executives, including its missing president, will leave about 300,000 students without lessons and 7,000 employees without jobs." read more here or here

However, I cannot believe the part where the English teacher in the film above says he only has ¥198 left in his bank. This is less than £1. Surely after all the scandal and probability that NOVA will go under of recent times, you wouldnt just stick around and wait for it to happen.? But then again, if NOVA owns your VISA, the roof above your head and the reason you are in Japan, to cut ties with them would be hard and costly when you dont have any wages coming in.

I'm sure my English teaching boss in Japan is rubbing his hands together as the nearby NOVA KIDS school closes down, his biggest rival... :)
