Japan's 2 main mobile phone networks, Docomo and KDDI, are hoping to release an 'earthquake-warning' system in a few months. This system will notify its users of an imminent earthquake via their mobile phone. The same technology (Meteorological 'Early-warning' system) is already being used in some major companies in Japan, but it is the first time that the general public will be informed of the advance warnings.
The early-warning system detects the first underground tremors that come before a main earthquake and estimates the intensity a few seconds before they hit the surface.

...Wouldnt this just create panic? How accurate is this information? If the information says the earthquake will be 震度6強, unless I can get cover, I think I'd rather not know... It would be like someone telling you 'You are going to die in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...' O_O;;;;;
If I couldnt get cover, if I send the message to voicemail, would that delay the earthquake to a more suitable time?? ^^ (笑)
