CHECK = BILL [bil]
PANTS = TROUSERS [tr?uz?']
DIAPER = NAPPY [n?pi]
HOMEROOM = FORM ROOM [f?:'m ru(:)m]
FRENCH FRIES = CHIPS [t?ips]
CHIPS = CRISPS [krisps]
DOLLAR FRIES = WEDGES [wedzes]
EGGPLANT = AUBERGINE [?ub?zi:n]
SNEAKERS = TRAINERS [tr?in?'rz]

= "I OFTEN EAT PAN"
**common mistake**

From your Japanese sentences, we can understand what you write with 100% confidence. On the other hand, we can notice that you aren't a Japanese native with 100% conviction ;)

Is my Japanese message above hard to understand for you? Shold I write in English to communicate with you?

I kind of understand,

like, English might slightly different in England, Canada, America, Australia..etc, but basically we can understand what they are saying and still communicate so it doesnt matter what English you speak.
This is true. I understand most things.

Before coming to Japan Id never heard of an EGGPLANT, so had to look it up before finding out it was an aubergene. Similarly, the word CHIPS is cofusing for me, as in America it means crisps ポテトチップ, but in england it means french fries.

My boss teaches American English. My collegue teaches Australian English. I teach British English. True, the students understand and learn, but htey also get confused and therefore I think that the company I work for should only teach 1 kind of English.

(If I have mistaken your Japanese, ignore me!! >< )

oops! I'll take care from now on. But I can't say my mistakeful English is easy to understand....

> (If I have mistaken your Japanese, ignore me!! >< )

What I wanted to write was:
When you read an English text written by an English native but not British, you'll notice "oh, this must be written by foreigner/non-Brits", but can you distinguish the writer's nationality? Do British people know the difference between American English, Canadian English, AZ English, Indian English etc.?

Ah! wow, i completely got the wrong end of the stick! Sorry

In text, 90% of the time English cant distinguish whether it was written by an American/Australian/British.... as written English is the same most of the time.

Not often, the reader can tell who wrote the text by the way its written, opinions or certain words used.

Written English is all the same really. Only spoken English is different.

Wow, the Scottish, South African and New Zealand Engilsh accent is too hard for me to understand sometimes! I need subtitles! >_<

And in such cases you British would think "英語はイギリスから来たよ!!"

Sorry if I seem rude/racist..etc.. for thinking "英語はイギリスから来た!"

(Just thought maybe I do...)

Never mind. I don't take it rude/racistic, and I don't want to live in an aseptic room.

A grammar question:
In above sentence, should I use the word "nor" instead of "and"?

Hi,

---Never mind. I don't take it rude/racistic, and I don't want to live in an aseptic room.

i would say:

Never mind. I dont take it to be rude or racist and i dont want to live in an aseptic room.

I dont really use 'nor' much in general conversation....but, if you wanted to use nor then...

i dont take it to be rude nor racist.....etc

k :)
