Today I had a free day. No work. No plans. No meeting friends... nothing... **danger! This means I will spend money I don't have!! So I needed a plan.
I decided to go to the ADMT (Advertising Museum, Tokyo) in Shinbashi. I've wanted to go there for a while and its well worth it! Its completely free but was much bigger than I expected with lots of print and television advertisements on display dating back to the 1830 right up to the present day(ish). I found it fascinating :) The photo above is one of the ads from the museum... I love these old adverts with the text reading right to left... :)
I then went on to the Printing Museum, in Edogawabashi. This museum normally costs ¥300 (approx £1.50) but I got in free as my friends husband works there :) hehe. However, this museum is much smaller and in my opinion, less interesting. Theres lots of old printing blocks and explanations of ukiyoe block printing and how type was printed before computers etc... Maybe its cos I already knew what it was telling me and there was hardly any examples to get excited about... I didnt spend long there.
Yesterday, I went to the Chihiro Art Museum with a friend. It is mainly a museum celebrating Chihiro Iwasaki's illustrations, but there are also other people's work on display too. I love her work~! This museum is a bit hard to get to and also located in the suburbs of Western Tokyo, near Kamiigusa station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, but well worth a visit... even if the price is a bit steep if you compare it with ADMT... (¥800). Everything here is so cute! :)
Tomorrow... I'm going to a voiceover shoot... Should be interesting :)
Been a good little design student of late :) haha
