Positive

I've been sounding really negative lately. I'm not that negative, really!! Thanks for all your encouraging comments.

Some really great things have happened in Tokyo this time, and although it does feel a bit like De-ja-vu being back in Tokyo, I have different aims and hopes now from when I did in 2005. I'm just a bit pessimistic. Positive feedback has found its way to me and I'm sometimes overwhelmed by the lengths people go to here in order to help me. I just dont know what to make of it all. I'm here 1 whole year too early. So at the interviews, its unrealistic for companies to say "Yes, we'll employ you in a year for 2 months" because most of the companies I've visited are small and who knows what the next year brings. They say things like "Sure, keep in touch and hopefully we'll see you again next year", but its all left very wide open. I cant expect much more.

Its been tough and this coming Tuesday is my biggest test yet (an interview at a Japanese Graphic Design company with a Japanese boss entirely in .. Japanese...) but I'm trying and doing my best under the circumstances. (Having to wear un-refreshing clothes in humid tokyo whilst sniffing and spluttering over any likely employers^^)

I've uploaded some photos that I've managed to take whilst here onto Flickr. They are a bit random and out of order (one minute you're climbing Mt. Mitake, the next you are in Ueno, the next you are watching fireworks, the next back at Mitake), but enjoy :)
