After keeping awake for over 24 hours, eating rock hard rolls and surviving Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, I'm here. Tokyo.
It feels really odd. Everything is the same. Exactly the same. The prices seem the same, the adverts at Ikebukuro station are the same, the adverts inside the Tobu Tojo line trains are the SAME. Its like I never left. I hope I find something different soon otherwise its too freeky. (edit: the 10pm news isnt on at 10pm anymore. Seems to be on 11.30pm. News at 11.30pm dont have quite the same ring to it. Reminds me of a not so past England mistake...)
It feels really odd as I've been on a plane for hours on end, and that, for me, always has meant a holiday. Even 2005 Working Holiday Visa to Japan was a holiday - I didnt really know Japan or know what to expect when I came before. But now I know. I know exactly how to get to my hotel, where to buy the best bread, whether or not something is overpriced, how to use the trains, which exits have a lift and which only have stairs... I'm on holiday, but it feels like home. (jeez...that sounds corny) Not that London isnt my home. Just I was born there and grew up there, so I take it all for granted a bit.
So, my body doesnt know how to react. I'm at home, preparing for interviews and seeing friends on one hand, on the other my brain is telling me to go into exploring mode and visit any wierd and wonderful places I havent been before.
The jolly typhoon that has come to welcome me to Japan is dropping by Tokyo on Sunday. Just in time for the bank holiday Monday! Ah well..., never know, I may come into money soon. Well..., only if I go into male toilets. Think its a bit sexist letting men have all the benefits... ^^
I'm very thrilled with my room. TV, fridge, freezer, cooking hob, shower, personal japanese bath, air conditioning, great view out the window (of someone else's hotel room..)... what more could a girl ask for?
Stephanie -- wish you were here...!!! :(

Wow, so you're back in Japan eh?
Are you just renting an apartment short-term? I've been looking at those, how much does yours cost, if I may ask? Did you have to pay reikin (key money) and all that?
I hope the interviews go well :)
I'm staying in what they call a 'weekly mansion' (which isnt as magestic as it sounds!) for a while before staying with friends. Seeing as its a bit out of Central Tokyo, not popular with tourists and the exchange rate is good, the price isnt so bad, under 20pounds a night.^^ I didnt have to pay key money etc. I was thinking about doing that, but it works out too expensive!!
Hey K, soz should have got back to you sooner, but I've decided won't be going over to Japan this year. It's very likely that I'll be going over to work there in 1-2 years time, so I'm leaving it til then.
Anyway, have a great holiday, and good luck with the interviews!
Haai you've finally got on.Well done.
I hope you would love Tokyo which is my home town and the most favourite city.
I guess that you will find many changed points, because Tokyo is really changeable city and I found some of the completely different place when I sent back Tokyo last April after 2 years out.
I think That is one of the point quite different from London and I love it.

Otsukaresama (?) !!
I have the same feeling when I go back to Portugal. Everything is the same as if I never left. But then I notice something small that is different and it makes me sad. I wasnt there to see it happen, I wasnt there to be with my friends, I wasnt there. Only when I see something that has changed do I realise how long I have been away. So if it is all the same, I am happy. I havent missed anything! ha ha
good luck with the interviews and typhoon. Its a big one right?
