In June 2002, a programme entirely about all things Japanese and presented by Jonathan Ross was first shown on BBC choice. It ran for 6 episodes, showing once a week. I watched most of the episodes, even though I wasnt a great fan of some of the topics they went into. For me it was a nice first to watch a programme entirely in English that was entirely about "popular" Japanese culture, not the usual traditional Japanese aspect that I was used to watching. Here's a sample of the 2002 show from YouTube.
Now, August 2006, Jonathan Ross and the BBC have made another series of this OTT show, the first of the 6 episodes to be shown on BBC 3 on Thursday night. The shows will be about nerds (otaku), lolita goths, the yakuza, Hard Gay Man, Cool, Cute, Gloomy Bear, Samurai spirit...
Yup, it is OTT, makes Japan look like a bunch of wierdos, and yup it is a show to be watched with a pinch of salt. But its fun and harmless^^
BBC 3 Thursday 7 Sept at 11pm.

harmless?! a couple of the shows were like watching porn!
i think the fact it is japanese has clouded your judgment? :-)
...never!
Have you had a chance to see the new show yet - if so, whatd'ya think?
(Also, have you ever seen Adam & Joe go Tokyo from the same production company? Personally I thought it was the superior of the two...)
Haha!! I've never seen the Adam&Joe go Tokyo video before... its hilarious! What show is it from?
I did watch Japanrama last Thursday, it was OK, not sure about the girl with Jonathan Ross though..
The Adam & Joe Go Tokyo clip was from the series of the same name. There's a bunch of clips from it on Youtube, (although I've made a DVD of the whole series for the enjoyment of myself and close personal friends). Great show!
Japanorama - I didn't mind the girl, but the sequence on robots dragged a bit...
